About Me
My VisionWashington State is the place we call home. For those of use that live in the 40th Leg. District we call Whatcom County, Skagit County, and San Juan County home. Often we find that when we elect our leaders we never hear from them until it is re-election time and I find that troubling. For once I would like to see a politician that works just as hard as the people he represents not only when it is election time. Also I believe that a politician is elected to express the will of the people he represents. My experience includes being a PCO for 29-560 and lifetime of dedication to improving our political system, gaining trust again from those who see no reason to trust politicians, and fighting against budget cuts in Health Care and Education. The issues I want to addressHealth Care:Quality health care is a basic human right. Everyone should everyone should have access ecespecially all senior citzens and children. Economy/Education:Green jobs(green-collar job) in Washington is a must. Everyone is talking about how need job creation and we do that by leading the way in this untapped sector. The are many benefits to Washington being at the forefront of this new emerging market. We will have jobs that families wont have to live paycheck to paycheck, Joe Biden even claimed that people who earn $20 per hour prior to green job training can make as much as $50 per hour afterward. So education also plays a part in boosting our economy with higher wages. Funding higher education and training for green jobs would separate us not only as a district, not only as a state it would also give further incentive for our whole country to keep jobs in America. We have to give companies reason why to invest their jobs here and not else where and education would do that, giving them a workforce that is highly trained and ready to work now. Green jobs also mean less jobs going over seas, and there is also the postitive environmental impact. We need to support I-1098-Washingtons tax code ranks dead last in basic fairness--50th out 50 states.-The middle class pays 4 times the tax rate compared to the very wealthy--11% vs 2.6 %.-A King County judge recently ruled that Washington is violating the state constitution by underfunding education.-I-1098 will cut taxes for the vast majority of state residents and eliminate the B&O tax for small businesses, creating jobs.-Washington State has a tax code that harms our economy and pushes working and middle-class families to the brink, yet fails to provide the stable revenue we need to fund priorities like education and health care.-The bottom 20% pay more than 17% of their income in taxes while the top 1% pay less than 3%-I-1098 will generate about $1 billion per year in stable revenue dedicated to a trust fund for education and health care.-I-1098 imposes a high-incomes income tax only on the wealthiest 3% of households -- couples with joint income of $400,000 a year ($200,000 and up for individuals.) Cuts state property taxes 20 percent. -Eliminates B&O taxes for more than 133,000 new small businesses, exempting about 80 percent of tax-paying businesses in the stateWith being at the forefront of green jobs and passing of I-1098 we can bolster our economy and start creating jobs. What I will doI will keep it simple as what I want to do as your State Rep. for the 40th District. I simply want to make sure your voices are heard. I would treat the position as a full time job not some sort of hobby. I would stay connected to my constituents as often as possible and not just when re-election rolls around. There are some things I believe are important, Education and Health Care. Both we all deal with wether we have children or not or if we have health concerns or not. Our tax dollars go towards both and most us know someone with children or know someone who has health concerns. I am not going to tell you that I have all answers and any politician that does say that is a liar. That is why I want to hear from the people that live in the 40th district. I am a democrat though, my father was one too and would still be one today if he was still alive. This state and district is a democratic one. Therefore I believe in pushing for many of the things that democrats are known for; fighting for the middle to lower class as they always need someone in their corner, fighting for the environment and as we live in Washington State we all know how precious and important our environment is and how it defines us. At the last though being a democrat will not stop me from listening to good ideas even if they don't necessarily fall in line with what most democrats feel is right at first. This is because I believe the best thing about being a democrat is we as party are always open to new ideas.

The issues I want to address
Health Care:
Quality health care is a basic human right. Everyone should everyone should have access ecespecially all senior citzens and children.
Economy/Education:
Green jobs(green-collar job) in Washington is a must. We need to support I-1098
-Washingtons tax code ranks dead last in basic fairness--50th out 50 states.
-The middle class pays 4 times the tax rate compared to the very wealthy--11% vs 2.6 %.
-A King County judge recently ruled that Washington is violating the state constitution by underfunding education.
-I-1098 will cut taxes for the vast majority of state residents and eliminate the B&O tax for small businesses, creating jobs.
-Washington State has a tax code that harms our economy and pushes working and middle-class families to the brink, yet fails to provide the stable revenue we need to fund priorities like education and health care.
-The bottom 20% pay more than 17% of their income in taxes while the top 1% pay less than 3%
-I-1098 will generate about $1 billion per year in stable revenue dedicated to a trust fund for education and health care.
-I-1098 imposes a high-incomes income tax only on the wealthiest 3% of households -- couples with joint income of $400,000 a year ($200,000 and up for individuals.) Cuts state property taxes 20 percent.
-Eliminates B&O taxes for more than 133,000 new small businesses, exempting about 80 percent of tax-paying businesses in the state
With being at the forefront of green jobs and passing of I-1098 we can bolster our economy and start creating jobs.
